2017-18 के आर्थिक सर्वेक्षण के अनुसार देश की कुल जीडीपी में कृषि का हिस्सा लगभग 16% है। जबकि देश की लगभग आधी से ज्यादा जनसंख्यां खेती पर निर्भर है। देश तरक्की भी कर रहा है और देश में हर वर्ष करोड़पति और अरबपत्तियों की संख्या  भी बढ़ रही है। लेकिन क्या आपने कभी सुना की देश के कितने किसान करोड़पति हुए ? फिर ये कौन लोग है जिनकी संपत्ति में बेतहासा वृद्धि हो रही है ?  जबकि एक किसान लगातार कर्जदार होता जा रहा है। सबसे ज्यादा रोजगार देने वाला, पुरे देश के लिए अनाज पैदा करने वाला और कुदरत की मार भी सबसे ज्यादा किसान पर आती है। आज देश में सभी तरह की आर्थिक गतिविधियां रुक गई है लेकिन किसान आज भी अपने खेत में काम पर है। क्योंकि उसको साल भर इसी कमाई से काम चलाना है। 
देश की आजादी के इतने सालोँ में हर पार्टी की सरकार आई, लेकिन कोई भी सरकार किसान की किस्मत नहीं बदल सकी। ये समस्या कोरोना से भी गंभीर है लेकिन किसान किसी को मौत नहीं बल्कि जीवन देता है और शायद इसीलिए कोई इसकी समस्या को गंभीरता से नहीं लेता। जय किसान।
